I have been wanting to get to this area since it beat Tsali in a Blue Ridge Outdoors reader survey several years ago.Add that to the IMBA epic ride in the area, and it seems destiny to make the 8 hour drive from KY. I would appreciate anyone who is familiar with the area give their opinion on this iteniary. Comments or suggestions for other trails/different direction of travel, whatwever are very welcome and appreciated.
Day 1:Park at Todd lake. Ride north on Little Skidmore, left onto Wild Oak, then right (east) on Groom's ridge and back over Grindstone mountain on Wild Oak.
Day 2: Southern traverse (IMBA epic) with shuttle from Stauton bike shop.Do most people go to SR 627 or FS 399?
Day 3:Park at Todd Lake:Ride West up Chestnut Ridge on Wild Oak trail, right (north) on FS 427, right (east) on Buck Mountain trailand return via FS 101.
Day 4:Park at Hone Quarry. Ride west on Hone Quarry trail, south on FS 85 to Reddish Knob, then down Timber Ridge to Wolf Ridge to the car.
This is what I have coe up with after a couple weeks of reading books and the internet and staring at the map for hours.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would hit a ride that goes up Gorgia Hollow and down road hollow up bridge hollow, and ends with the downhill to brayleys Pond. Definately one of the cant miss loops in the area. Also a combination of narrow back with a road climb up to the top of reddish knob and a down on timber and wolf ridge will be well worth the effort to get up the road.
Those are two of my favorite bigger rides out in the GWNF.
PS The southern traverse IMBA Epic on the SMT is also well worth the road ride back. Sweet ridge top riding at it's best.
