Turn Right ClimbThought this might be fun A little fitness tracker/ race/ personal challenge. Go climb Betsey Bell and post your time and any pertanant info on here and I'll keep a spreadsheet of everyone's efforts and track peoples progress. HERE IS THE ROUTE AND GPS CLIMB INFO: trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/7607980The Start is behind Burger King off Greenville Ave. in the back parking lot near the dumpster behind the store. I WILL BE PAINTING A LINE WITH A "Q" AT THE END OF IT WHERE YOU START. From this line you can see traffic turning to head up Betsey Bell and of course you should wait for traffic before you begin as you will turn right onto Betsey Bell Rd from the parking lot. (I should ge the line painted tommorrow if the pavement is dry) The finish is at the top of the climb at the turnaround. The first tree in the center of the turnaround is the finish line marker. I will tie some ribbon or something around the tree, but there is no spray paint or etc. on the road or tree. The route is half pavement and half gravel. Should be interesting to see if the fastest time is from a moutainbike or a road bike. This should be a fun tool to guage fitness throughout the year and a fun test to see who post the fastest short climb in town. The Climb1.08 miles long 710 foot elevation gain 11.6%Avg Grade according to GPS, but I have doubts....? Now go CLIMB IT.

I didn't have anything to mark the tree that wouldn't be permanent when I was there, but I intended it to be the first tree in the roundabout that should be noticable on recon rides. The Line is there but small and faint with a very faint Q on the end of it. I was quick to paint it as I was a little scared . I may try to go back and paint it a little better.
The Route I took was Up the main road to the top.
From Dan: scouted the Betsy Belle hillclimb today, an untimed ascent on my Diamondback. The official route goes up the "main road," right? Not the mountainbike path. No trouble finding the line at the BK dumpster but didn't see any marking on a tree at the top. I'll look more closely after my next scouting mission. Then maybe I'll be ready to bring a stopwatch.
See ya.

I think I'll see if it's faster to run it or ride it.

Name: Mark Russell
Attempt 1 time: 7:13
Bike: Independent Fabrication Planet Cross, set up Belgian Style
I didn't see the line at the bottom of the hill, I started at the 25mph sign next to the BK dumpsters.
That hurts, bad. No, it really hurts.
Can't wait to do it again.

The Speed Limit sign at the road may be a better start anyway. The line I painted is in the parking lot of BK, so you need to turn onto the road. I think we'll run with the speed limit sign. The first tree at the top where the road splits is still the finish. I'll see in the next few days if i can beat my nine minute mark since Mark posted a hugely better 7:13.
